Poetic Elements
Poems are often the most misunderstood and unappreciated things in all of literature. People often believe that all you need to make a poem are rhyming words, but this is far from the truth. In reality, poems are more than just rhyming words, they are used to paint a picture using words we know and using them to convey the author’s meaning. In the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth he uses personification when he describes the daffodils as moving like their hair is moving in the wind, he uses this familiar imagery of how our hair moves back and forth in the wind to convey the movement of the flowers to us. This is why it is important do stuff like this in poetry, because it gives us a better image and understanding of what the author is trying to convey.
