Daedelus

The story of Daedalus is a very unique one in ancient stories. Instead of having one moral or message he has two. In the first part of the story his son and him made wings to escape a prison. Daedalus gave his son instructions not to fly too close to the sun or fly too close to the sea. Then his son, Icarus, doesn't listen and he flies too close to the sun, his wings melt, then he falls and dies in the ocean. This myth was used to teach people that if you don’t listen to your parents you will fail in life.

The second part is when he has to make an elaborate contraption in a contest invented by king Minos in a way to get Daedalus to come out of hiding. This myth is used to show how your intelligence and wit can get you out of bad situations.

Mythology Creation Story

Every Culture has its own creation story and the Greeks are no exception. In their version the universe started out with Chaos, then all of these other people who appeared out of know where had kids until the gods and man were made.
The other creation story I will write about is Scientology. First off I will say that I picked Scientology because it would be more interesting to learn their story than the done to death one of Genesis.  So any way seventy-five million years ago their was a Galactic Confederacy led by an alien named Xenu (wonder if he looked like a xenomorph). Xenu was about to be disposed from power so he froze his subjects to steal their souls(ok?) So then they were transported in spaceships to Earth. I could go on longer but to make a long story short the souls of those aliens more or less possessed us and Xenu was imprisoned in a volcano.

After careful analysis of these stories I believe the Greek one is the more realistic. The main reason why I believe this is because all of the things that it took to make Earth could symbolize all of the elements and the Big Bang. Also, another thing that helps the Greeks is that they don’t believe a Xenomorph god doesn't live in a volcano.

Hercules Hero or Antihero?

In ancient mythology and storytelling in general, all of the protagonists of a story are heroic figures or put the needs of others before others. But in some rare instances there is a protagonist who doesn’t possess those same qualities. Hercules is one of these people.
After Hercules, tricked by Hera, killed his wife and kids he needs to accomplish twelve trials to purge himself of the sin. These also reveal that he is an  anti hero. The biggest example of this fact is during his ninth labor he had to bring back the belt of Hippolta queen of the Amazons. Hercules convinces her to hand over the belt, but then Hera makes the queen attack him. He then responds to this by promptly killing her.
This shows he is an anti hero because if he wasn't he would have tried to talk to her like a normal hero would do he takes the easy way out, but he is still trying to do something heroic, and that is trying to redeem the sin of killing his family.

The Problem with New Data

The current state of affairs is an absolute mess in this country. When it comes to opinions and facts if people are on one side of an argument their position will not change for anything, according to John Carrol. If you take this for face value one might conclude that everyone in politics or science is just trying to get their agenda across to the average person, but it is really more complicated than that. In reality trying to change one’s opinion can cause you to be shunned by your affiliates and the people on your side. This is very important in the political world because you need the one hundred and ten percent support of your party or you will not be elected to office.
Things don’t fair much better outside of politics either. The Unions want to raise middle wage one or two dollars so people who work at McDonalds can support a family, but they will ignore and insult people who say that McDonalds was never meant to be a job to support a family on, but a job teenagers take to learn how to work and to get the money to buy a Playstation 4. Many people will often wonder why certain groups could be so stubborn but the answer is in our human nature. Humans never want to be wrong. Whether it’s because of embarrassment or anger at people who prove us wrong we don’t like being told what we believe is wrong and that we need to update or change our opinions.
